PharmaCare provides a detailed overview of the usage of pharmaceuticals in the general population of the Campania region, in terms of expenditure, volumes, and types. The data analyses contained therein offer valuable insights to correlate the prevalence of diseases in the area with the corresponding pharmaceutical usage and propose an interpretation of the main factors influencing variability in prescription practices. This report represents a useful support tool for the Local Health Authorities as it analyzes demographic and geographic determinants, provides estimates of usage and expenditure stratified by age and gender of the beneficiary, and allows for outlining a framework on prescription in each Local Health Authority individually and in relation to others, as well as to the Region as a whole. Within the report, which gathers data from all the Local Health Authorities of the Campania Region, the regional trend of expenditure and consumption is analyzed, and a detailed pharmacoepidemiological analysis is carried out for each individual ASL.
