The recent COVID-19<\/a> pandemic represents one of the most fearsome public health threats in human
history.\u00a0<\/p>

The significant mortality and morbidity rates due to the pandemic have been, in large part, due to the rapid\u00a0spread of the virus that found international health systems unprepared for such extraordinary emergency.\u00a0<\/p>

For this reason, the main objective of applied research today is to accurately and promptly identify the\u00a0areas of greatest risk and subjects most susceptible to infection, in order to reduce severe clinical outcomes\u00a0(access to intensive care and deaths) and the need for extreme containment measures with the relevant\u00a0social and economic implications.<\/p>

In this context, since the first pandemic wave, CIRFF has focused part of its research activity on COVID-19,\u00a0investigating the pharmacological and clinical history of COVID-19 patients in the Campania Region.<\/p>

The clustering of patients into risk profiles in order to identify the most fragile population, in fact, is an
effective strategy to facilitate the adoption of appropriate preventive and therapeutic measures.\u00a0Specifically, in order to pursue this objective, the Center is promoter and partner of several projects aimed\u00a0at investigating the possible correlations between the clinical complexity of the subjects and the infection\u00a0by SARS-CoV-2 and actively collaborates with organizations and universities of different Regions and\u00a0European countries to provide scientific evidence to prevent critical implications on health systems.<\/p>
