Rare Diseases (RD) constitute a significant public health issue, representing, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 10% of known human pathologies. In this context, CIRFF (lead partner) in collaboration with the National Relevance Hospital of the Colli aims, through this Project, to achieve several objectives, including:
- The creation of a business intelligence tool for monitoring drug activities used for rare diseases and adherence to therapies;
- The development of predictive models for early diagnosis and monitoring therapy adherence;
- The development of tools to support healthcare governance to assess the impact of health policies;
- The implementation of clinical-institutional audits and training/information programs to promote the quality of care and improve outcomes;
- The design and implementation of a Governance structure dedicated to evaluating the Patient’s Journey for patients with rare diseases.
Additionally, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithm based on Machine Learning (ML) criteria will be developed and applied to health databases. Through computational methods in Drug Utilization and Pharmacoeconomics, this algorithm will be capable of early identification of medication non-adherence.
